​I am drawn to the delicate tangibility of tumbleweeds as produce. The dehydrated life cycle they are a part of is central to the narrative of California agriculture and the water crisis of the southwest. The first few tumbleweeds that I gathered were in New Mexico, which influenced my choice in choosing to envelope them in blue; both the spiritual color of protection, and the hue of branching systems of veins.

These ceramic wall pieces are sculpture and talisman. Icons of the hamsa, leaf and plants are meant to protect from negative as well as summon positive energy.
