Summer Art Camp Monday-Friday $35/day
Artists of all ages will enjoy an engaging studio experience in this week of morning workshops. Each week of camp is tailored to a specific age group, 6-11 or 5-7. Artists who are above age 6 may attend either or both sessions, but be informed that there will be considerably younger artists in the 5-7 group. Each daily camp experience will be structured as a two part class with ample time for exploration, creative play, and connecting with classmates. The first part of the morning begins with creative warm-ups and a formal drawing or painting lesson with step-by-step instruction. Students have many open-ended choices to make throughout their creative planning and exploration in addition to learning new skills in a variety of media. In between parts 1 and 2, students will have a play, movement and snack break (get those bodies energized!)
Part two is focused on three-dimensional art with choices for exploring process art. (Process Art is art that is child-directed, choice-driven, and celebrates the experience of discovery. In process art, the final product is always unique and the focus lies in the creation of the work, not the outcome.) Students may take a break at any time, and go at their own pace. Each day will have 2 different projects introduced, and always include choice time to work on projects from previous days or investigate areas of personal interest.
